Next Steps for Correctional Officer Applicants:

If you meet the requirements to be eligible for the position of Correctional Officer, the WVRJ HR Specialist will contact you to schedule pre-employment testing, which includes a written exam and a physical agility test.  See the Employment tab/Written & Physical Agility Testing tab for further details/examples and for how to dress and what to bring with you.

At this point you will need to complete the WVRJ Personal History Statement Online or the WVRJ Personal History Statement Fillable PDF as well.  Please review the above options on how you can also get a paper copy of the Personal History Statement if you prefer that.  (This is required so your background investigation can be completed.)

If you pass both the Written and Physical Agility tests you will then be scheduled for a preliminary interview with the investigator.

If that goes well, you then proceed to the background investigation portion of the WVRJ hiring process.

Upon successful background investigation results, you will meet with the Deputy Superintendent for a 2nd interview and discussion of the duties and expectations of the Correctional Officer position.  If both parties are still ready to proceed, you will sign a Conditional Offer of Employment.

You then submit to a pre-employment full physical with a drug screen and a full psychological evaluation.

Upon passing results from both the above physical and psychological testing, HR will reach out to you to make an official offer of employment and set a start date.  At some point between this time and your start date, you will meet with the Superintendent for final approval.

Next Steps for All Applicants Other Than Correctional Officer:

If you meet the requirements to be eligible for the position for which you applied, the WVRJ HR Specialist or another WVRJ team member will contact you to schedule an interview.

If you are the top candidate chosen for the position for which you have applied, you will then need to complete the WVRJ Personal History Statement Online or the WVRJ Personal History Statement Fillable PDF as well.  Please review the above options on how you can also get a paper copy of the Personal History Statement if you prefer that.  (This is required so your background investigation can be completed.)
